Monday 25 November
Presence
The peace of God is the treasure of treasures, “the pearl of great price” – Lord, may I experience this peace right now, in Your holy presence.
Freedom
“There are very few people
who realise what God would make of them
if they abandoned themselves into his hands,
and let themselves be formed by his grace.” (Saint Ignatius)
I ask for the grace to trust myself totally to God’s love.
Consciousness
Father, thank You for sending Your Son to earth to be with me in every experience I have. Thank You that He is with me in a special way in this time of prayer and through Your Word.
The Word of God
Luke 21:1-4 NRSVue1He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury; 2he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. 3He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them, 4for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

Inspiration
We are familiar with wealthy people giving large donations and being recognised and honoured for doing so. We pray that we may be like the poor widow in being generous with the little we have to give honour to God in the poor.
St Paul reminds us that all we have is gift (1 Corinthians 4:7). Possessiveness imprisons us and allows insecurity to have an undue influence. May we appreciate that what we have in this life is passing and therefore not cling to it.
Conversation
How has God’s Word moved me?
Has it left me cold?
Has it consoled me or moved me to act in a new way?
I imagine Jesus standing or sitting beside me and
I turn and share my feelings with Him.
Conclusion
I thank God for these few moments we have spent alone together and for any insights I may have been given concerning the text.
Amen
