Presence
“You show me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalm 16). Lord, help me to live in Your presence today.
Freedom
Your death on the Cross has set me free.
I can live joyously and freely,
without fear of death.
Your mercy knows no bounds.
Consciousness
How wonderful it is to be able
to enter into Your presence, Lord;
no matter what time it is,
no matter which land I am in,
I need only speak Your Name.
The Word of God
Luke 8:16-18 NRSVue16“No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar or puts it under a bed; rather, one puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. 17For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light. 18So pay attention to how you listen, for to those who have, more will be given, and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.”

Inspiration
The theme of light is frequently used in scripture, from the creation story to Jesus as the light of the world. Light is not to be hidden but should show the way to safety. We pray that we may be a light to others who are trapped in darkness.
We need a gentle hold on life, as it is God’s gift to us. Holding on to anything in a possessive way is doomed to fail. It is in giving that we receive. Lord, give us the openness to live your message, for it is not to be kept secret but to show the way to others. In the economy of God’s grace, the more we give away, the more we receive in turn of his gifts and provision and the more fully alive we become.
Conversation
What feelings are rising in me as I pray and reflect on God’s Word?
I imagine Jesus Himself sitting or standing near me and I open my heart to Him.
Conclusion
I thank God for these few moments we have spent alone together and for any insights I may have been given concerning the text.
Amen
