Wednesday 30 April
Presence
Every moment is alive with the glorious presence of God. As I give myself more and more to intimate communion with the One who created me, I find that I simply have no time to worry.
Freedom
Lord, I pray for Your gift of freedom.
May Your Holy Spirit
guide those in power to work for
true justice for all Your people.
Consciousness
I remind myself that I am in the presence of the Lord.
I will take refuge in His loving heart.
He is my strength in times of weakness.
He is my comforter in times of sorrow.
The Word of God
John 3:16-21 NRSVue16“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
17“Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18Those who believe in him are not condemned, but those who do not believe are condemned already because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. 20For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. 21But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”,

Inspiration
In John’s Gospel we often see this contrast between light and darkness. Evil deeds are done in the dark and ‘those who do what is true’ act in the light. After Judas went out from the Last Supper to betray Jesus, there is a simple sentence: ‘It was night.’ From our daily newspapers we see the evidence of the darkness that is at the heart of humanity. Let us pray to follow Christ, who is the light of the world, so that we too might fulfil St Paul’s urging, ‘as lights in the world so you are to shine’.
Conversation
Your own words, Lord, taught me how to pray.
The beautiful “Our Father”
contains all I would wish to say.
Conclusion
I thank God for His gift of love
as I go forth with joy and hope
to serve His people.
Amen
