Presence

“Be still and know that I am God”. (Psalm 46:10).
Lord, may Your Spirit guide me to seek
Your loving presence more and more,
for it is there I find rest and refreshment from this busy world.

Freedom

Lord, I pray for Your gift of freedom.
May Your Holy Spirit
guide those in power to work for
true justice for all Your people.

Consciousness

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your love never fails and that Your mercies are new every morning. May I never fail to turn to You with my needs, with my love.

The Word of God

²⁶“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. ²⁷You also are to testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

¹“I have said these things to you to keep you from falling away.^{, 2}They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, an hour is coming when those who kill you will think that by doing so they are offering worship to God. ³And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me. ⁴But I have said these things to you so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you about them.

Inspiration

Jesus foretells the persecution that his followers will have to endure at the hands of those who do not know God. The Holy Spirit will help his disciples and us to witness to Jesus, and he will give us whatever words are needed for this. We see this again and again in the lives of the martyrs. Let us pray for the courage to persevere in our faith.

Conversation

Jesus, You always welcomed little children when You walked on this earth.
Teach me to have a childlike trust in You,
to live in the knowledge that You will never abandon me.

Conclusion

I thank God for His gift of love
as I go forth with joy and hope
to serve His people.
