Presence

Lord, God, my Creator,
Be close to me now.
My soul yearns for Your presence.

Freedom

Guide me always to do Your holy will
knowing that Your strength will
carry me through.

Consciousness

How am I really feeling? Lighthearted? Heavy-hearted?
I may be very much at peace, happy to be here.
Equally, I may be frustrated, worried or angry.
I acknowledge how I really am. It is the real me that the Lord loves.

The Word of God

¹²“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. ¹⁴He will glorify me because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. ¹⁵All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Inspiration

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Love between the Father and the Son. As the Spirit of Truth, he continues the work of Jesus in teaching and enlightening us as Jesus promised us. Let us learn how to listen to him and ask him to lead our leaders and ourselves in the path of justice and truth.

Conversation

Do I notice myself reacting as I pray with the Word of God?
Do I feel challenged, comforted, angry?
Imagining Jesus sitting or standing near me,
I speak out my feelings, as one trusted friend to another.

Conclusion

I thank God for His gift of love
as I go forth with joy and hope
to serve His people.
