Thursday 10 July
Presence
“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10). Lord, Your words lead us to the calmness and greatness of Your presence.
Freedom
“There are very few people
who realise what God would make of them
if they abandoned themselves into his hands,
and let themselves be formed by his grace.” (Saint Ignatius)
I ask for the grace to entrust myself totally to God’s love.
Consciousness
Dear Lord, help me to be always
aware of the important things in life,
to care for those around me,
to seek Your presence in everyone I meet.
The Word of God
Matthew 10:7-15 NRSVue7As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’, 8Cure the sick; raise the dead; cleanse those with a skin disease; cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment. 9Take no gold, or silver, or copper in your belts, 10no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff, for laborers deserve their food. 11Whatever town or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. 12As you enter the house, greet it. 13If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town. 15Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

Inspiration
Whatever success missionaries have comes only through God who works through them. Their role is to freely offer the Good News, and it is up to the hearers to accept or reject it. God always leaves us free. Prayer is always an invitation to meet and spend time in the Lord’s company. Every moment we spend doing this changes us and blesses us. We read, ‘Now is the acceptable time.’ Let us use our time in prayer well, as this particular time will never come again.
Conversation
What word or phrase has caught my attention from today’s Gospel? I ask the Lord what He wants to say to me through this word…
Conclusion
I thank God for these few moments we have spent alone together and for any insights I may have been given concerning the text.
Amen
