Presence
Every moment is alive with the glorious presence of God. As I give myself more and more to intimate communion with the One who created me, I find that I simply have no time to worry.
Freedom
“I am free.”
When I look at these words in writing,
they seem to create in me a feeling of awe.
Yes, a wonderful feeling of freedom.
Thank You, God.
Consciousness
As I talk to You, O God,
help me to grow in appreciation of the gifts of communication.
Grant that I will speak out for those who have no voice
and always have a kind word for those in need.
The Word of God
Luke 4:31-37 NRSVue31He went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbath. 32They were astounded at his teaching because he spoke with authority. 33In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34“Leave us alone! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God.” 35But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” Then the demon, throwing the man down before them, came out of him without doing him any harm. 36They were all astounded and kept saying to one another, “What kind of word is this, that with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits and they come out?” 37And news about him began to reach every place in the region.

Inspiration
In the gospels, we read that the people were astounded and impressed by the authority with which Jesus spoke. Again and again, he backs this authority up with works of power and goodness. In our modern world, it is said that we have gone from the experience of authority to the authority of experience. How open am I to learning from my own experience of what gives life to me?
And am I willing to accept the authority of the gospels as to how I should live my life?
Conversation
Dear Lord, stay by my side always.
Gain for me a trusting heart.
Thank You for loving me.
Conclusion
I thank God for these few moments we have spent alone together and for any insights I may have been given concerning the text.
Amen
