Monday 15 September •Our Lady of Sorrows
Presence
Jesus waits, silent and unseen, to come into my heart.
I will respond to His call.
He comes with His infinite power and love.
May I be filled with joy in His presence.
Freedom
Lord, I pray for Your gift of freedom.
May Your Holy Spirit
guide those in power to work for
true justice for all Your people.
Consciousness
At this moment, Lord, I turn my thoughts to You.
I will leave aside my chores and preoccupations.
I will take rest and refreshment in Your presence.
The Word of God
John 19:25-27 NRSVue25And that is what the soldiers did.
Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.

Inspiration
Even in his agony on the cross, Jesus is mindful of others. Next to the gift of himself to us, his greatest gift must surely be his own Mother. Mary accepted her son’s dying wish and embraced her new role. As the apostles gathered in the Upper Room after the Ascension, she joined them as they prayed. This is the infant Church, and Mary is the Mother of the Church. We pray for a greater devotion to her.
Mary is truly the model of the perfect disciple. With extraordinary courage and love, she is there at the foot of the cross as her Son gives his life for us. In heaven, she continues to intercede for us with her Son.
Conversation
“He looked at him and loved him”. (Mark 10:21). Can I allow myself to sit in the loving gaze of Jesus, Who loves me at all times and places, in all circumstances? God always looks at me with unconditional love.
Conclusion
Filled with the loving presence of God,
I ask Him to bless me and guide my steps
as I go to do His work in my daily life.
Amen
