Tuesday 14 October
Presence
The more we call on God, the more we can feel God’s presence. Day by day we are drawn closer to the loving heart of God.
Freedom
“In these days, God taught me
as a schoolteacher teaches a pupil.” (Saint Ignatius).
I remind myself that there are things God has yet to teach me,
and I ask for the grace to hear them and let them change me.
Consciousness
As I talk to You, O God,
help me to grow in appreciation of the gifts of communication.
Grant that I will speak out for those who have no voice
and always have a kind word for those in need.
The Word of God
Luke 11:37-41 NRSVue37While he was speaking, a Pharisee invited him to dine with him, so he went in and took his place at the table. 38The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not first wash before dinner. 39Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. 40You fools! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41So give as alms those things that are within and then everything will be clean for you.

Inspiration
Jesus denounces the Pharisees and Scholars of the Law for their blindness in judging goodness by the external observance of the Law. Evil deeds come from within the human heart, and he accuses them of being full of greed and wickedness. Human pride leads to an inner blindness much deeper than any loss of sight. Let us ask the Lord to show us how we may be blocking the light of the Gospel in our own lives.
Conversation
What word or phrase has caught my attention from today’s Gospel? I ask the Lord what He wants to say to me through this word…
Conclusion
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
Amen
