Thursday 20 November
Presence
The more we call on God, the more we can feel God’s presence. Day by day we are drawn closer to the loving heart of God.
Freedom
I try to let go of any prejudices and narrow-mindedness
that may be clouding my vision at this present moment.
I hand them over to God’s merciful care, so I can pray in freedom, truth and clarity.
Consciousness
Lord You have called me the “light of the world”.
Let me be always conscious of those You want me to serve:
the hungry and the homeless,
the sick and the destitute,
the stranger and the refugee.
The Word of God
Luke 19:41-44 NRSVue41As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42saying, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43Indeed, the days will come upon you when your enemies will set up ramparts around you and surround you and hem you in on every side. 44They will crush you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave within you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”,

Inspiration
‘Oh that today you would listen to his voice, harden not your hearts’ (Psalm 94). In this month of November, we pray especially for our dead and we reflect upon our own end. Our prisons have many people in them who regret past acts and decisions and would give anything to reverse them.
As we look back, are there times when we did not recognise the visitation of God in our lives and times, even when we heard but did not heed his voice? Let us pray to use well the time and the opportunities that are still left to us.
Conversation
Lord, help me to connect with You. I don’t always know how, but I want to receive Your love and I open my hands and my heart to You. Please come to me today.
Conclusion
I thank God for His gift of love
as I go forth with joy and hope
to serve His people.
Amen
