Thursday 11 December
Presence
Every moment is alive with the glorious presence of God. As I give myself more and more to intimate communion with the One who created me, I find that I simply have no time to worry.
Freedom
“There are very few people
who realise what God would make of them
if they abandoned themselves into his hands,
and let themselves be formed by his grace.” (Saint Ignatius)
I ask for the grace to trust myself totally to God’s love.
Consciousness
Jesus, thank You for this moment where I am conscious of Your presence with me. Help me to be more and more aware of Your presence in my daily life, and in everyone I meet.
The Word of God
Matthew 11:11-15 NRSVue11“Truly I tell you, among those born of women no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist, yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and violent people take it by force. 13For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John came, 14and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. 15Let anyone with ears listen!

Inspiration
Jesus began to gather his co-workers from the earliest days of his ministry because he knew he would need other labourers to work alongside him. As the individuals and pairings began to gather around him, it’s interesting how often he cited John the Baptist as a key figure and a role model to follow.
John had courage and the ability to hold a straight course, never allowing himself to be diverted from what he knew to be right. We could learn something from him.
Conversation
Friends don’t keep secrets from one another.
As I pray, can I look at Jesus as my friend
and share my innermost thoughts with Him,
trusting that He understands?
Conclusion
I thank God for these few moments we have spent alone together and for any insights I may have been given concerning the text.
Amen
