Friday 30 January
Presence
The more we call on God, the more we can feel God’s presence. Day by day we are drawn closer to the loving heart of God.
Freedom
Lord, like Saint Ignatius, I offer you my memory, understanding,
my entire will. All I ask for in return is Your love and Your grace – that’s enough for me.
Consciousness
There is a time and place for everything, as the saying goes.
Lord, grant that I may always desire
to spend time in Your presence,
to hear Your call.
The Word of God
Mark 4:26-34 NRSVue26He also said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground 27and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. 28The earth produces of itself first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. 29But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle because the harvest has come.”
30He also said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? 31It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”
33With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to hear it; 34he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.

Inspiration
Yesterday, we prayed that the soil into which we plant would prove to be productive and that the seed would sprout and grow even if we do not know how. We have a fair idea, however, that the grace you bestow on all we might attempt has a significant role to play in the process. We ask that you aid and encourage the process in whatever way you think wisest.
Conversation
Jesus often asked questions of those who came to Him.
Let me sense Him close to me now,
listening to my prayer and asking
“How can I help you?”
“What can I give you?”
“What do you need?”
Conclusion
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
Amen
