Saturday 3 May •Ss Philip and James, Apostles
Presence
My soul longs for Your presence, Lord. When I turn my thoughts to You, I find peace and contentment.
Freedom
I ask for the grace
to let go of my own concerns
and be open to what God is asking of me,
to let myself be guided and formed by my loving Creator.
Consciousness
Heavenly Father, may I grow in virtue as I take time out of my day to listen to You and spend time with You. May Your goodness overflow into my life, and from my life into the lives of all those I meet.
The Word of God
John 14:6-14 NRSVue6Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
8Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, but if you do not, then believe because of the works themselves. 12Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.

Inspiration
Only God can reveal God to us and he has done this by sending his Son Jesus to us in his human nature. We no longer have the physical presence of Jesus among us but he is still with us through his Spirit. We can see him through the eyes of faith and we truly meet him in prayer. He is now more available to each of us than when he walked this earth. This is now all mediated to us by our faith. Let us pray for a deeper faith.
Conversation
Sometimes I wonder what I might say if I were to meet You in person, Lord.
I think I might say “Thank You, Lord” for always being there for me.
I know with certainty there were times when You carried me, Lord,
when it was through Your strength that I got through the dark times in my life.
Conclusion
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
Amen
