Pause
I quiet myself. I remember that I am in your loving presence. I listen to the sounds around me, then centre my attention on my breathing. I remember that every breath comes from you, O God, Breath of Life. I give thanks for this day, for being alive here, now, today.
Ask
I come to you with a prayer for a new home. A place to dwell in, to make a life in. To flourish and find peace. A place to rest and recover. A place to fall apart and to be well. A sacred dwelling place.
Listen
I imagine myself walking up a path, approaching a home. The door is open. It is waiting for me to enter. Inside, warmth welcomes me. I feel safe, secure, at ease. You, O Lord, are waiting inside. A small banquet is set between us – drink to quench our thirst and food to satiate our hunger. Light, music and conversation adorn the space. You pull out a chair for me. I marvel at the bounty.

Jesus, a new home gives way to a new path – a new environment, new routines, new challenges. New joys to discover, new communities to join, new ways to heal and grow. A new home can be a source of sustenance, to me and to others. A place of rest and delight, of dependable hospitality.
Reflect
Bringing this prayer to you today, I remember that you are always the attentive host, waiting for our arrival, ushering us in, giving us the best chair, the best food and drink. May I open myself up, like the door in a loving home, to let you in today. To welcome in those most in need of hospitality. I thank you, God, for the life I have had, the life I have now, and the new one that is just beginning.
