Pause
I take several deep breaths as I prepare to enter into prayer, closing my eyes for a moment to focus my mind and still my heart. As I inhale and exhale, I remember that You welcome me into Your presence at all times, in all places, bringing whatever I may be carrying with me in my heart.
Ask
Compassionate God, I ask You for help. Knowing that You hear my cry, that You see my need, I feel confident in offering this prayer for help from God. Not knowing how to proceed, unsure of which direction to take, I come to You with empty hands, asking for the grace of Your love and the mercy of Your assistance.
Listen
Like the psalmist, I cry out, “From where does my help come?” And with the psalmist I lift my eyes up to the mountains and answer, “From the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Weary though I am, I allow myself to be immersed in the depths of Your rich compassion. Discouraged though I might be, I rest in the assurance that You watch over me, guiding me into peace and safety.
Share
I feel Your tender gaze upon me, Your love radiating all around me, even in the midst of what I am facing. Assured of Your care for me, I share with You the burdens I am bearing, the situations of difficulty in my life, and the hopes that I have for their resolution. As I speak, I can feel the warmth of Your presence with me and within me, reassuring me of Your unfailing help.
Reflect
God who listens, God who sees, I reflect on this time with You with a grateful heart. I offer my thanks for Your loving response to my prayer for help. As I move forward into my day, I carry with me the consolation of Your presence and the knowledge that You are always by my side, willing to listen, and willing to help.
