Pause
Lord of all mercy and God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), I answer your call to come to you, for I am weary and burdened. In your arms of compassion, I seek rest (Matthew 11:28).
Ask
I come to you in grief, aching and wounded; I limp into your embrace. Uphold me in my weakness, sustain me in my darkest valley, comfort me as I mourn.
Listen
Your promise is that you are close to the brokenhearted, that you save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Be near to me, oh God. Nurse my spirit, nourish my hurting heart.
Share
Lord, your words speak life, your words speak truth, your words speak tender care over me. You call the mourning blessed; you reassure me of your comfort (Matthew 5:4).
Reflect
Fulfiller of promises, you told your people that a time will come when every tear will be wiped from our eyes, that there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain (Revelation 21:4). Sing to me of this glorious day. Be with me wherever I go (Joshua 1:9). Wrap me in your Spirit, sit with me in my grief.
