I come to you today, Uncontainable Love, just as I am. I bring you this body, this breathing, these thoughts and heartaches. You see me, you know me, you love me. I offer you all of me, and you pour out your attention and care to me. Thank you, Jesus, for this unwavering companionship.
Ask
I come to you today with a prayer for relationship. I long for companionship to diminish loneliness, ease burdens, and share joy. I pray for connection, ease in conversation, and shared interests to blossom and flourish. I pray for delight, for discovery and growth, for support through life’s ups and downs. I pray for sacred friendship.
Listen
Made in the image of the Holy Trinity, we are beings designed to be in mutually loving relationships, to live in holy community. Jesus, you call us friends. You said that there is no greater love than love for a friend, than laying your life down for your friends. Your model of relationship is one that gives and gives, upholds dignity, enjoys the company of others, respects the other’s sense of self and pace of growth.

I pray for this same kind of depth and commitment in my relationships. For this same level of trust and generosity. To be a good companion, and to belong to a relationship of mutual cherishing. How good it is to be loved! How good it is to love!
Reflect
Following your example, I return to what I know: giving generously, forgiving quickly, speaking honestly, acting mercifully. I choose again what I see in you: a willingness to be with others, to give of myself freely, to value encounter and friendship more than kingdoms or prestige. To be a person in and of relationship.
