Pause
Come, Holy Spirit, enlighten my mind and enliven my heart as I approach this sacred time with my prayer journal. Reveal to me the hidden places where you are at work within me. Guide my hand and my pen so that I may draw ever closer to you.
Ask
What do I need most today? You know what I need even before I ask (Matthew 6:8). Still, I make my requests known to you (Philippians 4:6). Writing down my intentions for myself, for those who have asked me to pray for them, for my community and the world.
Listen
I quiet my mind and heart and listen for your still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12). In the silence, it is your turn to speak. What memories will you bring to my mind? What words and images will slide into my heart? I wait with patient gratitude for your holy word.
Share
God of compassion and mercy, how can I make a return of the many blessings you have bestowed upon me? I will write of my anxieties and sufferings, trusting in your providence and care. I will write of my joys and hopes, confident in your enduring love.
Reflect
Time spent with you is sacred, my divine friend. May the graces of this time in prayer extend throughout my day as I bring your light and love into the world. Stay close by my side until I am able to open my prayer journal again.
