The Holy Spirit represented as a dove

We know about Jesus, who came as a tiny baby and for whom we prepare ourselves in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Advent is a special time of preparation for the arrival, start, beginning of something significant – the long-awaited Messiah.

But do we fully know that God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all interconnected, interwoven, intrinsically involved with each other? We invite you to join us this Advent as we explore the person of the Holy Spirit and, hopefully, in doing so, we will all come to know this person in a new way.

As we enter this busy time of waiting and longing for Christmas morning, we ask God to enlighten our hearts and minds to the amazing love and joy found in the Holy Spirit. We only need to make time in our busy schedules to receive the gifts offered to us, even if it’s just a few minutes each day.

The retreat has been written by our very own content editor, Ciara Ó Catháin. She shares brief glimpses of her personal experience of growing in her awareness of the Holy Spirit at work in her life, along with Scripture and prayers to help us all immerse ourselves in the season of Advent.

Each day, the retreat can take as little as 2-4 minutes or more, depending on how much time you have and how deeply you want to enter into prayer. If you have the time, we encourage you to spend as long as you can with anything that jumps out for you from the reflections or the scriptures themselves. Stay with those words and let them settle deeply into your heart, mind, and soul.

Starting on the first Sunday of Advent, November 29th, the retreat will provide new prayers and reflections for each day of Advent, ending on Christmas Eve. Whether you join us from the beginning or go back and catch up, we are delighted to have you join us on this journey as we grow in knowledge, love and appreciation of the gift that is the Holy Spirit.
