2nd Sunday of Lent
Jesus, thank you for being my companion on life’s journey, each day, and in each and every moment, including this one. Help me to tune in to your presence now…
Habakkuk 2:3 NRSVue
For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
It can be difficult to wait and watch as others seemingly do better than I do. I pray. I ask God to help me. I ask Him to give me what I need. And when it doesn’t happen according to my plan, I am frustrated. I feel ignored. I start to doubt. I find it difficult to be grateful when my life doesn’t measure up to those of others, when good fortune seems to favour them over me. When things seem to be going so well for everyone but me. Today, I will make a deliberate effort to thank God for His perfect timing as I pray for the patience I need to await His will.
Lord, I know that your timing is always perfect, and that you want my good and my happiness. I choose to give thanks even in all the places I am still waiting, wanting, longing and aching. I trust that you will fulfill every one of my needs, in your way and in your time. I surrender my way and my will to yours. Amen.
