Presence

Lord, I lay aside my thoughts, worries and cares and focus on you during this time of prayer.

Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard the sound of my pleadings. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

Reflection

I am blessed with many talents. I might not use them or even recognise them. I may not think I’m good at them. I say: I’m not an artist. I can’t sing. I don’t dance well. I’m not good with my hands. But have I tried? Have I tried to share these talents and, in sharing, develop them? If I can read, I can read to a child or an elderly person who may be losing their sight. If I can draw, or knit, or paint, or sing, I can do so to bring some joy to others. Whatever my song is, today I will use it to give thanks to God.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, you have endowed me with many gifts. Help me to shake off any false humility, or any pride, or fear, and to share my gifts with others, even in the smallest of ways, and to pray that in sharing, it will be a blessing. In the name of Jesus your Son, I pray, Amen.
