1st Sunday of Lent
Lord, thank you for being my companion on life’s journey, each day, and in each moment, including this one. Help me to tune in to your presence now…
Isaiah 55:10-11
10For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Exercising regularly is good for us. Eating regularly, too. The keyword here is regularly. Just as the rain and snow come to water the earth, to wash away the dirt and the smog and to help things grow, it’s the same with God’s word. Making a regular appointment with the Bible might not be convenient. We may have more urgent things to do, things that we perceive to be more important. We might simply not be in the mood. We might not fully understand what we are reading. But like the rain and the snow, His word will wash over us and help us grow.
Dear God, help me persevere and keep my appointment with your word so that I can grow with it. Help me live my faith. Amen.
