Lord, thank you for being my companion on life’s journey, each day, and in each moment, including this one. Help me to tune in to your presence now…

Scripture

Romans 12:6-8

⁶ We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ⁷ ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; ⁸ the encourager, in encouragement; the giver, in sincerity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.

Reflection

When we recognise that the gifts we have been given are through the mercy of God’s grace, we can set aside our pride. They are not our achievements. Yes, we have worked hard for what we have, to get to where we are, but we didn’t do it on our own. Our achievements have been, and are, blessed by God. And because our gifts and talents stem from God’s grace, we have a duty, an obligation, to use them in his service. We should not waste them. We should not hide them. We should not let them fade. 

Closing Prayer

Dear God, put in my path this day an opportunity to use any of the many gifts you have given me.  Help me live my faith.  Amen.
