Friday of the 4th week of Lent
Lord, thank you for being my companion on life’s journey, each day, and in each moment, including this one. Help me to tune in to your presence now…
Ecclesiastes 4:6
6Better is a handful with quiet than two handfuls with toil and a chasing after wind.
More isn’t always better. The bigger the house, the bigger the bills. The more money we have, the greater our fear of losing it. The better the job we have, the more dependent we become on the success that goes with it. How often have we seen children get more enjoyment from the box the toy came in than from the toy itself. Sometimes less is more. Less stress. Fewer headaches. More time to enjoy the relative simplicity of life. Indeed, some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.
Dear God, instead of tying myself in knots of ambition and envy, I will make the most of what I have. Help me live my faith. Amen.
