Monday of the 2nd week of Lent
Lord, thank you for being my companion on life’s journey, each day, and in each moment, including this one. Help me to tune in to your presence now…
Ephesians 4:21-24
21 For surely you have heard about him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus, 22 to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
It’s never too late to change, to do something different, to break old habits. Sure, it may not be easy. It may well take a lot of time and effort. The real question here is whether you really want to put away your former way of life and make that change. If you do, if you really want to, you can. With the help of God, you can imagine yourself as you would like to be. Think about how the new you would react to the old situation. Each evening, examine what happened during the day and ask yourself what went well and what could have gone better. Clothe yourself in that new self. Repeat that vision statement you have of your new self over and over and over again.
Dear God, give me the grace to be honest with myself and to commit to making a change for the better. Help me to live my faith. Amen.
