Lord, thank you for being my companion on life’s journey, each day, and in each moment, including this one. Help me to tune in to your presence now…

Scripture

John 13:12-15

¹² After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had reclined again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for that is what I am. ¹⁴ So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.

Reflection

As Christians, we know what it means to live a  good life. Jesus led by example, as every good leader and role model should do. Too often, we get caught up in what we have, not what we do. We see riches in material things, not in thoughts, gestures, and deeds. True greatness comes not from winning applause and acclaim, but from serving others. When we can park our egos and pride, when we can cast off our status and position in society, when we can forget about what we are and see who we are – servants of Christ – then we will know greatness.

Closing prayer

Dear God, place in my path someone I can serve this day. Give me the grace to recognise them and act on your word. Help me live my faith.  Amen.
