John 16:12-15 NRSVue

12“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14He will glorify me because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Some thoughts on this scripture

Reflection
The mystery of the Trinity is difficult to put into words. One important word in considering the Trinity is 'sharing'. The three persons live in the love of sharing their truth and sharing all they are. Prayer introduces us to the mystery of God, the mystery of truth and the mystery of gift. All of God is gift; prayer is our time of allowing the gift of Father, Son and Spirit reach deeply into our lives.

Reflection
Jesus does not abandon the one who followed him. Earthly death does not confine his word to the era of the first century. Jesus, through his Spirit. is still our guide and our way, truth and life. The Spirit unites heaven and earth, God and humanity, within each person and within each community of Jesus Christ.

Reflection
The Father, Son and Spirit are one; they act of one accord, seeking the same good. I am invited to find myself in their relationship to one another. I prayer that I may grow in appreciation that I am created, redeemed and made holy by God's continuing action and presence.

Reflection
As he promises us the Holy Spirit and offers us all that the Father has, Jesus gives fully of himself. I pray for generosity.

Reflection
Jesus wants to draw me into the life of God. The mystery of the holy Trinity reminds me that God holds me in being, saves me and makes me holy.

Reflection
Jesus spoke these words at the Last Supper, as he gathered with his disciples, sharing life with them. He realized that there was much he wanted to express but could not say, so he washed their feet, broke bread and shared wine. His words and actions comforted and strengthened them in ways that only the Holy Spirit might help them to understand.
