John 3:20-21 NRSVue

20For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. 21But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”,

Some thoughts on this scripture

Reflection
In St John’s letters there are precious nuggets, simple truths that stay with us. /If any one has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Let us not love in word or speech, but in deed and truth./

Reflection
Loving in word and speech has become a fashion, using the phrase /I love you/ as a sign-off to a conversation; or sending cards on Mother’s or Father’s day with loving messages written by someone else.

Reflection
Lord, make me choosey about my love language. It is my behaviour that reveals my heart.

Reflection
I am called to live confidently in the light, realising that I am fully known and loved, that there is nothing to cause me shame. I am recognised and called by God. I see the true beauty of those around me.

Reflection
Living in the dark creates suspicion, means partial recognition of myself and of others, suggests danger and risk. Could I be content with that?
