Mark 4:26-29 NRSVue
26He also said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground 27and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. 28The earth produces of itself first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. 29But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle because the harvest has come.”

Some thoughts on this scripture
Reflection
Seeds grows quietly, inexorably – tiny yet powerful. The fruit is hinted at, becomes more evident and is finally ready. God’s ways come to growth in me in similar ways as I see traces in the past of what emerges later. I pray for patience and for hope as I long for God’s spirit to be more clearly at work in me.
Reflection
Jesus wondered at small, ordinary realities. I take time to notice what is about me and let my surroundings speak to me of where God may be moving in my life.
Reflection
The kingdom of God, God's rule or reign in human hearts, comes about when
people truly listen to Jesus. The beginnings of the kingdom may be small but
God will reign in all human hearts in due course. So there is no need for
Jesus' followers to be discouraged or impatient.
Reflection
Lord, I get so discouraged when I see all the evil and injustice in the
world. I will pray for patience and for hope.
