Mark 5:18-20 NRSVue

18As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. 19But Jesus refused and said to him, “Go home to your own people, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and what mercy he has shown you.” 20And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone was amazed.

Some thoughts on this scripture

Reflection
There are different ways of serving Jesus. As he listened, the man realised that what appealed to him was not what Jesus wanted. I bring my desires before Jesus to hear what he has to say. I pray that I may be ready to change my plans.

Reflection
I picture Jesus speaking with compassion to the man who had been healed. He sent him among his friends with a mission to speak of God’s goodness. I ask that I may do this too in the way that serves Jesus best.
