Marcus 8, 22-26
22In die tijd kwamen Jezus en zijn leerlingen in Betsaïda. Daar bracht men een blinde bij Hem en smeekte Hem die te willen aanraken. 23Jezus nam de blinde bij de hand en bracht hem buiten het dorp. Daar deed Hij speeksel op zijn ogen, legde hem de handen op en vroeg hem: “Kunt ge al iets zien?” 24Hij keek en hij antwoordde: “Ik zie mensen, want ik zie ze lopen, maar ze lijken op bomen.” 25Daarna legde Hij nog eens de handen op zijn ogen. Nu zag hij scherp en was zo volkomen genezen dat hij alles duidelijk zag. 26Hij stuurde hem naar huis met de waarschuwing: “Ga zelfs het dorp niet in.” ,

In this miracle, there is an extraordinary intimacy between Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, and the blind man as he puts his own human spittle on his eyes, almost like a balm, and restores his sight. ‘For I am gentle and humble of heart.’ We go to God through living our humanity.
‘Do not even go into the village.’ After a conversion, which is seeing in a new way, we must not go back to our old ways of living.
