Presence
I reflect for a moment on God’s presence around me and in me.
Creator of the universe, the sun and the moon, the earth,
every molecule, every atom, everything that is:
God is in every beat of my heart. God is with me, now.
Freedom
I ask for the grace
to let go of my own concerns
and be open to what God is asking of me,
to let myself be guided and formed by my loving Creator.
Consciousness
Conscious of Your presence, Lord,
I look over my recent past.
Let me be honest with myself about how I’ve been
and what I’ve done,
because I know You love truth in the heart
and accept me just as I am.
The Word of God
Mark 8:11-13 NRSVue11The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, asking him for a sign from heaven, to test him. 12And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.” 13And he left them, and getting into the boat again he went across to the other side.

Inspiration
Jesus came to call sinners to repentance, and he never ceased to love the Pharisees and the scribes who tried to thwart him again and again in his mission. But their hardness of heart sorely tried his patience as we read in this gospel. God never gives up on us. We read in the book of Revelations 3:20, ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone opens to me, I will come in and dine with them, and they with me.’
Conversation
Conversation requires talking and listening.
As I talk to Jesus may I also learn to be still and listen.
I picture the gentleness in His eyes
and the smile full of love as He gazes on me.
I can be totally honest with Jesus as I tell Him of my worries and my cares.
I will open up my heart to Him as I tell Him of my fears and my doubts.
I will ask Him to help me to place myself fully in His care,
to abandon myself to Him,
knowing that He always wants what is best for me.
Conclusion
I thank God for His gift of love
as I go forth with joy and hope
to serve His people.
Amen
