Sunday 2 March •Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Presence
“Be still and know that I am God”. (Psalm 46:10)
Lord, may Your Spirit guide me
to seek Your Loving presence
more and more. For it is there
I find rest and refreshment from
this busy world.
Freedom
Lord, may I never take the gift of freedom for granted.
You gave me the great blessing of freedom of spirit.
Fill my spirit with Your peace and Your joy.
Consciousness
At this moment, Lord, I turn my thoughts to You.
I will leave aside my chores and preoccupations.
I will take rest and refreshment in Your presence.
The Word of God
Luke 6:39-45 NRSVue39He also told them a parable: “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? 40A disciple is not above the teacher, but every disciple who is fully qualified will be like the teacher. 41Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye but do not notice the log in your own eye? 42Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Friend, let me take out the speck in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.
43“No good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit; 44for each tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a bramble bush. 45The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil, for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.

Inspiration
As a Christian, to pray means to try to pray. We are limited in our understanding and our following of Jesus. So, we can never judge others when we are so blind about ourselves. To strive to correct our own faults is a great enough task for a lifetime. ‘Lord, help us to see correctly and then we can be a light for others.’
Love is shown in deeds rather than in words. Let our good deeds speak for themselves.
Conversation
I imagine now one of the Persons of the Trinity before me, Father, Son or Holy Spirit, whoever comes to my imagination most naturally, and I have a heart-to-heart conversation about what I have just read or what I am feeling and experiencing in my life today.
Conclusion
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
Amen
