1 Corinthians 15:19-20 NRSVue

19If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

20But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.,

Further reflection

Our hope in Christ is not for this life only: we look forward to being brought to a fullness of life in Christ.

There are many signs of absence of life in the world. Human history is often told in terms of failure, conflict and death. The resurrection of Jesus draws my attention to the real direction and meaning of my life: I am made to be with God in whom completeness is to be found.
