Some thoughts on this scripture
Reflection
When a prisoner escaped from Auschwitz, the Nazis reacted by choosing at
random ten others to die as punishment. One of the ten, a married man, was
weeping that he would never see his wife and children again. The Franciscan
priest Maximilian Kolbe (his feast is today) offered to stand in for him, and
died by lethal injection.
Reflection
Lord, you chose Maximilian for heroism, and he inspires me. I feel I am in a
different league, but you have some vocation for me, too.
